Detailed Description

Aserbaidschan (aserbaidschanisch Azərbaycan) ist ein Binnenstaat zwischen dem Kaspischen Meer und dem Kaukasus. Das heutige Staatsgebiet entspricht dem N Teil der historischen Region Aserbaidschan, deren S Abschnitt eine iranische Provinz bildet. Aserbaidschan grenzt im N an Russland (Dagestan), im NW an Georgien, im S an Iran und im W an Armenien sowie – über die Exklave Nachitschewan – an die Türkei.

Riesige Erdölfelder bei Baku und der umliegenden Halbinsel Abseron.
