Distinction: Adamin ist im Gegensatz zu Olivenit nicht in Ammoniak löslich. Er besitzt eine gute Spaltbarkeit, während die Spaltbarkeit von Olivenit undeutlich ist. Adamin lässt sich von seinen Mischkristallen mit Olivenit nur durch eine chemische Analyse und / oder röntgenografisch unterscheiden.

Description:
Für das seltene Zink-Magnesium-Sulfat Boyleit ist der Porphyrbruch Kropbach Typlokalität.
Das wasserlösliche Mineral kommt in den trockenen Sommermonaten in Form farbloser bis weißer körniger Krusten in Begleitung von Gips auf zersetztem Nebengestein in der unmittelbaren Nähe zum Gang vor. Es lassen sich auch heute noch gute Stücke bergen.
In trockenen Sammlungsräumen wandelt sich das Tetrahydrat Boyleit ((Zn,Mg)SO4*4H2O) durch Wasserverlust in das Monohydrat Gunningit um. Die farblosen Krusten zerfallen in ein erdiges weißes Pulver. Diese Umwandlung ist nur zu stoppen, wenn das Mineral kühl und bei normaler Luftfeuchte gehalten wird, etwa in einer schwarzen Filmdose im Kühlschrank.
