Danger of confusion:
mit anderen trigonalen Karbonaten wie Magnesit, Dolomit oder andern "Späten" wie Baryt, Feldspat, Fluorit. Nadelartig ausgebildete Skalenoeder werden gerne mit Aragonit verwechselt.
Distinction:
ähnliche Karbonate schäumen mit kalter Salzsäure nicht oder nur wenig, andere ähnliche Minerale (bis auf Aragonit) gar nicht,
Unterscheidung zu Aragonit: Calcit-Nadeln brechen mit glattem Bruch schräg zur Längsachse, Aragonit bricht uneben (wie Quarz) mit undefiniertem Winkel zur Längsachse
