IMA 13-C: Mayenite-Supergruppe A proposal to modify the nomenclature of the mayenite-Supergruppe has been approved. As a consequence, the mineral brearleyite has been discredited as being the same as chlormayenite; mayenite has been redefined and renamed chlormayenite; kyuygenite has been renamed chlorkyuygenite; a-Gruppe nomenclature has been established for the mayenite-Supergruppe. CNMNC Newsletter No. 20, June 2014, page 557; Mineralogical Magazine, 78, 549-558. HAS NOT BEEN APPROVED In the light of the strong doubts raised by some of those who did not vote yes, in particular on the supposed identity between holotype mayenite and brearleyite, the proposal is not approved. Such a decision was then agreed with the CNMNC executive.
