Der Mineralname ehrt Ernest Clayton Andrews (18 Oktober 1870, Sydney, New South Wales, Australien - 1 July 1948, Sydney, New South Wales, Australien), früherer New South Wales Geologe der Behörde, welcher die Broken Hill Region kartierte. Der Name wurde von W.D. Birch, E.A.J. Burke, V.J. Wall and M.A 1988 vergeben.
