Die Mitglieder der Gruppe Klinozoisit leiten sich ab von dem Mineral Klinozoisit Ca2Al3[Si2O7] [SiO4]O(OH) allein durch homovalente Substitution. Die Schlüssel der Kationen- und Anionenseite sind A1 = M2+, A2 = M2+, M1 = M3+, M2 = M3+, M3 = M3+, O4 = O2-, O10 = (OH)-. Mit anderen Worten, die dominante Wertigkeit wie sie aufgeführt sind, müssen beibehalten werden.
