Preface

Name from

Der Name ehrt Martin Heinrich Klaproth [1743-1817], Chemiker und Entdecker der Elemente Uranium, Zirkonium und Cerium.

Es gab bereits 4 Anläufe ein Mineral nach Klaproth zu benennen. Francis S. Beudant prägte 1824 den Namen Klaprothite und benannte das Mineral 1832 Klaprothine. Bald zeigte sich, dass sich die beiden Namen auf Lapislazuli bezogen. Klaprothite wurde auch von Thomas Petersen im Jahr 1868 verwendet. George Pinsel entgegnete 1873 der Weiterverwendung des Mineralnamens und nannte es in Klaprotholite um. Im Jahre 1947 identifizierte Edward Nuffield anhand von nicht Typusexemplaren das Mineral als eine Mischung aus Wittichenit und Emplektit. G. Springer und S. Demirsoy untersuchten ebenfalls nicht- Typ-Material und schlugen vor Klaprothite als Polymorph von Emplektit , möglicherweise Cuprobismuthite anzusehen.
