Černý et al. (1979) definierte Stibiobetafit als das Sb3+ Analog von Betafit; Das Typmaterial hatte Nb + Ta > Ti Atome pro Formeleinheit und Ca ist das dominate Element der dominanten Valenz-Gruppe der A-Seite. Das Typmaterial wurde als Oxycalciopyrochlor bestimmt.
