Granitoid

Granitoid ist ein Begriff, welcher ursprünglich für Gesteine benutzt wurde, welche Granit "ähnlich" , jedoch unterschiedlich zusammengesetzt waren. Der Begriff wird heute gewöhnlich als Synonym für ein granitisches Gestein benutzt, d.h., ein magmatisches Gestein, welches essentiell aus Quarz, Alkalifeldspat und/oder Plagioklas beteht. In der Petrographie wird granitoid als allgemeiner Begriff in der vorläufigen QAPF- "Feld"-klassifikation für solche Gesteine verwendet, welche versuchsweise, bzw. vor der genauen Bestimmung als Granit, Granodiorit oder Tonalit identifiziert werden. Detailed description

Überbegriff für die Gesteinsgruppe im QAPF-Doppeldreieck mit einem Quarz-Anteil von 20-60 Vol.-%. Sie umfasst Alkalifeldspatgranit, Granit, Granodiorit und Tonalit.
