Ultrabasische Intrusion aus Gabbro und Gabbronorit in präkambrischem Schiefer und Quarzit. Brekzie, Chromitit, Dolerit, Dunit, Harzburgit, Picrit. 3 größere Chromit-Erzkörper und mehrere kleinere sowie Diabasgänge. Drusen im Chromiterz enthalten Calcit und Chrommineralien sowie PGM-Mineralien. Chrom-Titanit stammt aus den Diabasgängen.

Detailed Description

Früher wurde das Erz im Minengebiet obertägig abgebaut. Der Tagebau ist heute geschlossen und der Bergbau findet nur noch untertägig statt. Auf insgesamt sechs Sohlen und in drei Abbauen werden täglich im Drei-Schicht-Betrieb 500 t Erz gewonnen. Pro Schicht arbeiten 50 Bergleute untertage. Insgesamt sind 200 Personen untertage angestellt mit je sieben Stunden Arbeitszeit. Abgebaut wird das Erz durch Schießen (Sprengen) und anschließende Gewinnung durch Schrapper.

Mit 50 Jahren muss ein Bergmann meist aufgrund körperlicher Beschwerden in Rente gehen. Der durchschnittliche Verdienst eines Bergmanns liegt (je nach Funktion) zwischen 8.000 und 25.000 Rubel (ca. 265 bzw. 830 Euro) im Monat.
