Detailed Description

Auch zu Beginn des 20.Jhd. war der Bergbau die Haupteinnahmequelle. Die heutige Bebauung entstand im 17 Jhd. im Zusammenhang mit dem aufkommenden Bergbau und erreichte die Blüte im 18.Jhd. mit einer großen Anzahl Gruben und Hütten. Im Ort Bängbro lag ein großes Eisenwerk, das 1987 geschlossen wurde. Ab 1960 wurden die Gruben der Reihe nach geschlossen. Die letzte Grube des Hauptortes Kopparberg wurde 1975 geschlossen und 1978 endete die letzte Eisenerzgrube in der Gemeinde. Bis 1989 existierte noch eine Scheelit-Grube, nach dessen Schließung es dann mit der Bergbautradition endgültig vorbei war.

Wohnhäuser der Bergleute sind an einigen Stellen erhalten. Hier ist der Hof Södra Finnfall erwähnenswert, der 10 km O von Kopparberg liegt. Hier sind verschiedene Häuser aus dem 17.Jhd. erhalten. Ein Abstecher zur Hütte Östra Born beim Örtchen Ställdalen ist lohnend. Außerhalb von Kopparberg gibt es einen Grubenpark mit historischer Technik.
